Apple iPhone SE 2020 : A BEAST IN OLD SKIN

Updated: May 22, 2020

The iPhone SE was a instant sucess for Apple in 2014 as it was the iPhone that was cheap !!

Yes, that was only something new about it and nothing else as a fact it was a phone that saved cost by making a new mixture the old skin of the iPhone 5 by packing in more capable A8 Bionic and a greater RAM but all same design well people loved it and so much that it sold over 2 million of those, but wasn't that 2014 and now it's 2020 and it's a time where midranges pack flagship hardware, flashy designs,flagship-grade camera sensors and displays that have higher refresh rates than even most of the flagships in such scenarios where literally there are very small reasons to buy flagships its hard to compete, even in this scenario Apple has launched the iPhone SE 2020 with same strategy lets see what has it got? does it have enough grunt to survive in this competitive world lets see

Highlights

  • The iPhone SE packs Apple's flagship A13 Bionic chipset

  • It has IP 68 water and dustproof protection

  • it has a flagship-grade camera sensor apparently the one in iPhone 11

  • It is also quoted to have a decent around 3000 mAh of battery and a 3 GB RAM

  • It also has wireless charging and it starts at 42,500 INR for the base model 64 GB variant and its offered in red, white and black

How is the display?

Moving on towards the display, For beginners its the same 4.7-inch retina display on the iPhone 8, and it also has something extremely new this display has huge bezels for free!! Yes and also with that extremely rare 16:8 Aspect Ratio it looks exact replica of the iPhone 8 yes that's the bitter truth even where 4000 RS phone has at least 18:9 Aspect Ratio it is so shameful that a phone that costs 42,500 INR does not get even that !! also to make things worst is that its just 4.7 inches that make it one of the smallest screens of 2020 frankly its the worst part of this device.

What's inside?

Well its a point where this phone just destroys the competition with that phenomenally powerful A 13 SoC and is the fastest chipset on a smartphone {As Per The Company}, yeah it's the same chip used in Apple's own flagship and it's exceptionally fast it can load all apps in a fraction of time it's damn powerful and with that 3 rd gen NEURAL engine things just work more smoothly and this statement shall hold true for nearly 5 years to come as it has a lot of reservoirs of power

How is the camera?

Well, some things are simply brilliant and that's the same case with iPhone it has a rather capable 12 MP f/1.8apeture sensor the one in the FLAGSHIP range of the iPhone 11 series and also the same one in the all-new iPad 2020 his means its some of the most capable cameras in the world and it produces breathtaking masterpieces although it doesn't have that fancy 48, 64,108 MP sensors up to its sleeve it surely can take on those with the best of dynamic range and all that brilliant optimizations by A13 chipset overall it get a great camera setup and shall never let you down.

How does it hold up against competitors?

To be honest, this is one of the best iPhones to buy today with all that flagship hardware powerful processor all the flagship features like IP 68, Wireless charging and a great camera makes it look appealing but what just doesn't work is that old iPhone 8 design {although it looks rather good} the nasty huge bezels and that single camera with no wide-angle or telephoto lens just don't work in favor.

Where to buy?

It's available on Flipkart at a complimentary price of INR 38000/- if you have an HDFC card and if you frankly do have one its one of the best iPhones to buy. Added to that the smoothness of IOS and all that security just excels by making its best operating system in terms of sheer user experience, but it shall also have to compete against the last year iPhone XR which is comparatively cheaper at INR 44000/-

Conclusion

The new iPhone SE is certainly compelling, but one downside is that the device boasts a 4.7-inch display. This was a curious design choice from Apple given that the original iPhone SE which touted a 4-inch display was specifically positioned for users who prefer a compact form factor. The new iPhone SE is effectively the same size as an iPhone 8, and while that’s still smaller than Apple’s iPhone 11 models, it’s decidedly bigger than the original.

The original iPhone SE was designed in 2014. At the time, the most advanced iPhones available were the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, devices which respectively featured 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays. If we are to assume that a 4.7-inch device is acceptable for users who prefer a smaller form factor, then why did Apple even bother releasing the original iPhone SE in the first place?

The reality is that the 4-inch form factor of the original iPhone SE is an ideal size for many users who simply aren’t interested in a device that can’t be used comfortably with one hand. In turn, the 4.7-inch display on the new iPhone SE is a bit disappointing and suggests that Apple is either unaware or doesn’t care about why the original device was beloved by so many.

Demand for the original iPhone SE exceeded all of Apple’s expectations, precisely because the company conceded that it got too swept up in the notion that bigger is always better.
